Since Tony Roma’s restaurant closed its doors at the Bay Terrace Shopping Center in Bayside last month, many have wondered what would replace it.

A representative from Cord Meyer Development Company – owner of the Bay Terrace Shopping Center – told QNS on Tuesday that Tony Roma’s former owners are in the process of building a new Italian restaurant in its place. Negotiations over terms are ongoing.

Further information will not be made available for another week or two, according to Cord Meyer.

It’s approaching 2 months since Tony Roma’s suddenly closed up shop. A sign left on the door read: “As of October 4, 2016, Tony Roma’s restaurant has closed down. We would like to thank everyone for support and patronage over the years. Hope to see you soon.”

A previous note indicated a new Italian restaurant would open there, but it was taken down. Photos of the new restaurant in the process of being built were posted on the Bayside Facebook page this week.
