Production crews setting up equipment along 39th Avenue in Bayside.

Workers were busy on the streets of Bayside getting set to film scenes for an upcoming episode of a popular cable television show today.

Production trucks and props were lined up along 39th Avenue on Dec. 1 to shoot FX series “The Americans.” Production employees were hard at work assembling lighting and equipment to begin filming.

The popular FX drama stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, who play undercover KGB spies in an arranged marriage posing as Americans in suburban Washington D.C during the Cold War. Parked along 39th Avenue between Bell Boulevard and 214th Place were cars appropriate to the era featuring Washington D.C. license plates.

“The Americans” was renewed for season 5 and 6, its final two seasons, earlier this year. The show has won several awards including the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Drama Series in 2015 and the Television Critics Association Award for Outstanding Achievement in Drama in 2016 and 2015.

The show also filmed in Bayside back in 2013 by the LIRR train station.
