Wookie from “Star Wars” will be there. So will Lieutenant Uhura from “Star Trek.” Ditto for cast members from “Mad Max II” and even James Bond.

Resorts World Casino New York City will host Wintercon NY Comic & Sci-Fi Expo 2016 in South Jamaica on both days this weekend. Returning for the third year in a row, this “Cool Geek Fandom” event will feature comic book heroes, movie stars, fantasy characters, and pop culture icons.

At least 10,000 enthusiasts (read: geeks) will head to the Rockaway Boulevard gaming-and-entertainment venue for special performances, seminars, trailer screenings, and panel discussions. They will join an estimated 200 vendors, including artists, illustrators, and vintage comic book dealers who will be peddling everything from toys to tee-shirts to sci-fi jewelry.

One of the more popular activities will be the Masquerade Cosplay Contest on Saturday. (“Cosplay” is short for “costume play”). With judges looking at craftsmanship and originality, contestants will strut their adorned stuff on a catwalk. Two “Star Wars” fan groups — The Empire Saber Guild and the 501st Legion — will participate, along with Ruby Rinekso, who likes to dress up as members of the KISS rock band, and Jennifer Rose, who might show up as Batgirl, Robin or maybe even the lead character of the animated TV series “Jem and the Holograms.”

Other activities include the following.

  • Chewbacca and the Rebel Pilots: a chance to meet Peter Mayhew, who played the Wookie in “Star Wars,” and the Rebel Pilots Nien Numb (Mike Quinn), Biggs Darklighter (Garrick Hagon), and Red 9 (Jack Klaff). These actors will also tell stories about filming this classic sci-fi movie series.
  • The Mad Max Road Warrior Panel: Cast members Bruce Spence, Virginia Hey, Vernon Wells, Kjell Nilsson, and Emil Minty will discuss the details behind the 1982 Mad Max movie.
  • The Walking Dead Panel: Austin Amelio, who plays Dwight, and Seth Gilliam, who is Father Gabriel, will talk about the past, present, and future of the TV series “The Walking Dead.”

Other actors who will be there include Nichelle Nichols (Lt. Uhura), George Lazenby (James Bond in “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”), Adrienne Barbeau (“Swamp Thing,” “Escape From New York”), and Dustin Diamond (Screech in “Saved By The Bell”).

There will also be an Artist Alley, where attendees will be able to meet comic illustrators such as Rich Buckler (Deathlok, Fantastic Four), Ken Kelly (Kiss, Micronauts), Sean Chen (Wolverine, Iron Man), Paris Cullins (Blue Devil, Blue Beetle), and Nelson DeCastro (Superman, X-Force).

Wintercon will run from 10:30 am to 8 pm on Dec. 3 and from 10:30 am to 5 pm on Dec. 4. Tickets, two-day passes, and VIP packages are available.
