It’s been a busy week for law enforcement in Queens as many of this week’s top stories feature knife-weilding bandits and investigations into high-profile murders.

Two fugitives wanted for robbery and assault in Washington were found by NYPD sleeping in a Middle Village home. Chloe Fontaine, 24, and Mateusz Rudnik, 27, were wanted for shooting a homeowner and another resident with a semi-automatic handgun.

Police recovered a loaded Taurus handgun from the Middle Village home that the duo was hiding out in.

An 11-year-old girl from Ridgewood was sexually assaulted by an Astoria cab driver. She left her home around 1 a.m. and got lost in the subway system where she ended up at the Woodside Avenue 7 train station.

The cab driver pulled up to the girl and asked if she wanted a ride. He then proceeded to grab her chest and fondle her, police said.

The NYPD released on Wednesday night an extensive profile of the unidentified person who attacked Howard Beach resident Karina Vetrano based on the information they’ve obtained in the course of its investigation. They hope the release of these details will ignite the memory of anyone near the park on Aug. 2 who may have seen Vetrano or her murderer.

In less grim news, a teacher at a Jamaica high school won a prestigious education honor for her work in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) field. Dr. Margaret Savitzky, a teacher at Thomas A. Edison Career and Technical Education High School for 14 1/2 years, was one of seven educators from schools citywide honored with a Sloan Award for Excellence in Teaching Science and Mathematics.
