The Museum of the Moving Image will screen "Lincoln" on the late president's birthday.

The 16th President of the United States was born on Feb. 12, and to celebrate his birthday, the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria will screen the Academy Award winning film “Lincoln.”

Directed by Martin Scorsese, the film follows President Abraham Lincoln who is played by Daniel Day-Lewis as he struggles to pass the 13th amendment after the Union Army won the Civil War. Day-Lewis won an Oscar, SAG award and a Critic’s Choice award for his performance.

Film critic Molly Haskell, who wrote the book “Steven Spielberg, A Life in Films,” will be at the museum to sign copies after the screening.

At least seven states have made the late president’s birthday a public holiday. His birthday, along with George Washington’s is recognized on President’s Day on Feb. 20. In Hodgenville, KY, the birthplace of Lincoln, and at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. wreath-laying ceremonies take place every year.

The screening starts at 1 p.m. at 36-01 35th Ave. Tickets are $15 and the screening is free for the Film Lover and MoMI Kids Premium levels and above.
