Marijuana and cash were found inside a car stopped at a Woodhaven intersection on Tuesday.

What started as a routine traffic stop in Woodhaven on Tuesday afternoon ended with a big drug bust after police found a driver from Brooklyn in possession with a large quantity of cash and marijuana, authorities said.

Officers from the 102nd Precinct stopped a vehicle operated by Edward Luzon, 22, of Brooklyn at the corner of 77th Street and 88th Avenue at 3:05 p.m. on Feb. 14.

According to law enforcement sources, a check of Luzon’s license revealed that it had been suspended. Upon further investigation, police found in his possession a pound of marijuana buds kept in plastic bags as well as $6,000 in cash.

Luzon was taken into custody on charges including criminal possession of marijuana and aggravated unlicensed operator, police said.

Deputy Inspector Deodat Urprasad, commander of the 102nd Precinct, praised the efforts of the officers assigned to Jamaica Avenue for their work in making the arrest.
