Officers from the 102nd Precinct were on the scene in Richmond Hill where an 18-year-old man was shot on April 13.

An 18-year-old man is lucky to be alive after being grazed by a bullet during a robbery attempt in Richmond Hill on Thursday night, police said.

Law enforcement sources said the shooting took place at 6:20 p.m. on April 13 in front of a home on 86th Avenue between 101st and 102nd streets.

According to police, the victim was walking through the area when he was approached by three suspects, described as two black males and one Hispanic male, who demanded cash and drugs.

When the teenager refused to comply with their demands, authorities said, one of the bandits pulled out a silver handgun and started firing. One of the bullets grazed the back of the victim’s head; the suspects subsequently fled the scene on foot eastbound along 86th Avenue.

Officers from the 102nd Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. The victim was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
