A Howard Beach man was found dead after running his car into a parked car in Richmond Hill, police say.

At approximately 4:42 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, police responded to a 911 call of a motor vehicle accident within the vicinity of Park Lane South and Myrtle Avenue. Upon their arrival, police found a 46-year-old man who was unconscious and unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a 2008 Ford SUV.

EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim has been identified as Anastasio Vavladelis, 46, of Howard Beach. The Medical Examiner has yet to determine the cause of death.

A preliminary investigation found that while driving southbound on Park Lane South, Vavladelis suffered a medical episode while behind the wheel, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, cross the double yellow line and hit an unoccupied parked vehicle.

The investigation is being conducted by the NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad and is ongoing.
