Security cameras captured the image of a man who unsuccessfully tried to steal cash from a Ridgewood deli on Saturday evening, police said.

According to law enforcement sources, the robbery attempt took place at 7:30 p.m. on May 6 inside the Polskie Deli Krajan located at 690 Woodward Ave., off Palmetto Street.

Authorities said the perpetrator — described as a Hispanic male between 20 and 25 years of age, standing 5 foot 7 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds with brown eyes, short curly black hair and a tan complexion — walked into the deli, displayed a knife and demanded cash.

Police said the 41-year-old female clerk at the counter told the would-be robber that she didn’t have any money, prompting the suspect to flee the scene. He was last observed heading westbound on Woodward Avenue.

The incident was reported to the 104th Precinct; there were no injuries.

According to police, the suspect was last observed wearing a gray jacket, a green and white t-shirt and black sneakers with green laces.
