The Kosciuszko Bridge will shine on Sunday night to honor mothers with a celebratory Mother’s Day light show.

Starting at dusk on Sunday, May 14, the Kosciuszko Bridge will light up its cables with soft pink, yellow and orange LED lights to bring a splash of springtime to Mother’s Day. The lights will continue into Monday morning.

“While no substitute for flowers, this celebration is one small way to thank hard-working moms across New York for everything they do,” Governor Cuomo said. “On behalf of all New Yorkers, I wish every mother across the state a happy Mother’s Day and invite them to enjoy this beautiful light show.”

On April 27, the first span of the Kosciuszko Bridge was made open to traffic and that evening Governor Cuomo premiered the “New York Harbor of Lights” show, which coordinated with lights on the Empire State Building and synchronized to music airing on multiple iHeartRadio stations.

The Kosciuszko Bridge is replacing the existing 78-year-old bridge, which first opened in 1939 under President Roosevelt’s administration. Once it is completed, the new bridge will consist of two state-of-the-art, cable-stayed bridges, one Queens-bound and one Brooklyn-bound.
