Cops investigating death of man found floating in the East River off the LIC waterfront

A dead body was found floating in the East River near Long Island City on Tuesday evening.

Police said they received a 911 call around 6:15 p.m. on May 23 about a man’s body floating in the river near Hunters Point Park in Long Island City. The NYPD Harbor Unit pulled the body out of the water and brought the man to the dock.

Emergency Medical Technicians pronounced the man dead at the scene. According to police, the medical examiner will conduct an autopsy.

The name of the man has not been released and the investigation is ongoing.
