“From day one the contest at the Writers and Illustrators has provided me with an amazing experience. The judges and guest artists had such a big impact on me,” Fonseca said of winning the contest. “There was so many advice and tips that was provided to me and my fellow illustrator contestants. I was happy to be here and it will definitely be an experience to remember.”

Fonseca was born in 1990 and grew up in Miami. He realized his passion for art from a young age when he recalls watching his father come home from work and doodle on napkins. Since that time Fonseca instantly knew that he wanted to pursue a career in the arts when he grew up.

After moving to New York, Fonseca studied at the School of Visual Arts in New York where he learned from mentors and expanded his creative knowledge while working in the digital arts and earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He now works as a freelancer in the entertainment industry, doing illustrations for games, film and concept art.

Fonseca’s future is certainly bright since the past 310 winners of the Illustrating Contest have went on to create over 4,500 illustrations, 356 comic books, 594 book and album covers, and visually contributed to 36 TV shows and 46 major movies.
