A Long Island man will be spending the next five years in prison for his role in a burglary and shooting at a St. John’s University dormitory in Jamaica last year, prosecutors announced on Wednesday.

Mustafa Godbolt, 22, of North Babylon pleaded guilty in May of this year to a first-degree burglary charge for his role in the May 11, 2016 incident at the campus located at 8000 Utopia Pkwy., according to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.

According to law enforcement sources, Godbolt forced his way inside a room inside the Hollis Hall dormitory shortly after 1 p.m. on May 11, 2016 and demanded money from the residents inside. After one of the individuals told him that there was no money prosecutors said, Godbolt pulled out a black revolver and fired a shot; no one was injured.

Officers from the 107th Precinct and St. John’s University security responded to the incident. Godbolt and two other individuals allegedly involved in the burglary — identified as Sutpon Tyrrel, 18, and Anthony Gusthas, 19 — were apprehended a short time later. The cases against Tyrrel and Gusthas are pending, Brown said.

At his sentencing on July 12, Godbolt was ordered to serve five years behind bars, followed by three years’ probation.

“It is fortunate that no one was injured during this brazen act,” Brown said in a statement. “The defendant will now be incarcerated as punishment for this crime and to protect society.”
