Enjoy a free day of family fun at a Douglaston park this weekend.

Alley Pond Park’s Adventure Course, the only public outdoor ropes course in New York City, is celebrating 10 years by throwing a free anniversary extravaganza on Saturday, July 29.

Attendees ages 8 and over are invited to try out the course’s most popular attraction, the zip line, for free. There will also be music, popcorn, balloons and other free giveaways and prizes.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. Arrive early, as space is limited. One zip line ride will be allowed per person.

The Alley Pond Park Adventure Center is located in the southern section of the park, across from the soccer fields. The Adventure Course consists of low and high ropes courses and tests groups’ or individuals’ physicality, intellect and problem-solving skills. It also features a climbing and bouldering wall, trust fall station, swings, nets, leaps and balance platforms and, of course, the zip line.
