Cops are investigating a one-car crash in Queens Village on Thursday night that claimed the life of a Kew Gardens man.

At 11:26 p.m. on July 27, police responded to a 911 call of a single motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of the Union Turnpike and Winchester Boulevard.

Upon their arrival, officers found 54-year-old Daniel Rainis, of Kew Gardens, unconscious and unresponsive, inside of a 2015 Ford Edge.

EMS responded to the scene and transported Rainis to Long Island Jewish Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad found that Rainis’s car was traveling eastbound on the Grand Central Parkway when the vehicle exited the ramp towards Winchester Boulevard. Rainis continued eastbound across Winchester Boulevard, driving directly into a wooded area before coming to a rest.

The investigation remains ongoing.
