UPDATE: Police arrest Astoria resident who jumped the service counter to rob a Citibank

Police arrested a man who bypassed the security glass at a Citibank service counter in Astoria to steal cash last month.

According to the NYPD, Sergio Dasilva,31, entered the bank at 25-91 Steinway St. around 9 a.m. on Aug. 24. Desilva lives in an apartment on the same block.

He jumped onto the service counter and over the security glass to demand money and told employees he was armed. Though he did not actually have a gun, employees complied and gave the suspect an undetermined amount of money.

Dasilva was arrested and charged with robbery.
