For the second year in a row, the biggest names in music descended on Queens for The Meadows Music and Arts Festival.

The festival took place from Sept. 15 through Sept. 17 and 100,000 fans were treated to performances by Jay-Z, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Gorillaz, M.I.A., Erykah Badu and more. Queens was also well-represented as Nas, LL Cool J, who brought out Hollis native D.M.C., and Action Bronson played sets. Nikki Minaj, who grew up in Jamaica, also made a surprise appearance.

Festival organizers Founders Entertainment also honored the borough’s eclectic food offerings by allowing Queens foodie Joe DiStefano to curate the FEASTival of Queens – seven Queens vendors that represent the food diversity of the borough.

Offerings included Tortas Neza from Corona, Arepa Lady and La Esquina del Cameron Mexicano from Jackson Heights, Kurry Qulture from Astoria, Dumpling Galaxy from Flushing, and  JoJu, Pata Paplean and Sugar Club from Elmhurst.

The festival hosted an eclectic array of musicians but New York rap legends dominated the three-day event. Brooklyn-based Jay-Z, Flatbush Zombies and Mos Def performed, and Staten Island-based Ghostface Killah also graced the stage on Sunday. Long Island trio De La Soul performed and also made a guest appearance during Gorillaz set along with Bronx-born Pusha T.
