The 10th Annual Bushwick Film Festival kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 12.

The Bushwick Film Festival (BFF) is celebrating 10 years of diversity in film with 40 events at 10 different venues over the span of four days, kicking off with the 2017 Bushwick Film Festival opening night party and viewing at House of Yes just over the Ridgewood border in Bushwick on Thursday night.

On Thursday, Oct. 12, the 2017 BFF will officially commence its 10th anniversary with a red carpet ceremony at 6:30 p.m. at House of Yes, located at 2 Wyckoff Ave. on the Ridgewood/Bushwick border.

The opening night of the festival will feature the world premiere of “In Case of Emergency,” a film directed by Stefanie Sparks. “In Case of Emergency” is described as a “humorous, gross-out look at the pains we take to fit in and the pointlessness of perfection.”

Once the credits roll in the film, ticket holders will be treated to an exclusive after-party.

The party doesn’t stop there, however. On Friday, Oct. 13, BFF will get into the Halloween spirit as they will showcase seven short horror films at Lot 45, located at 411 Troutman St., starting at 6.m. Select ticket holders will also get to join festival filmmakers, actors, writers, producers, festival crew and industry professionals at the Industry Happy Hour party at The Rookery Bar, located at 425 Troutman St., from 8 to 10 p.m.

Saturday, Oct. 14 will feature a slew of short films at the “Short Films: Westerns, Space Odysseys, Social Thrillers, etc.” event at LightSpace Studios New York, located at 1115 Flushing Ave., from 4:45 to 6:25 p.m.

The day continues with the serious and raw story “Whose Streets?” which delves into the events that took place after the fatal shooting of Michael Brown by police officers in Ferguson, Mo. This film will be shown at Chemistry Creative, located at 305 Ten Eyck St., from 7 to 8:45 p.m.

Both of Saturday’s screenings will be accompanied by complimentary drink specials and of course Bushwick’s Braven Brewing Beer, as well as a choice of red or white wine from Brooklyn Oenology.

Kicking off the festivities for Sunday, Oct. 15 is “Sea to Shining Sea,” directed by Maximón Monihan, which showcases a cross-country trip with two unlikely friends. “Sea to Shining Sea” will be featured at Syndicated Bar Theater Kitchen, located at 40 Bogart St., at 3:15 p.m.

The BFF wraps up with an awards ceremony at Syndicated from 7 to 9 p.m.

Throughout the entirety of the festival, there will be more screenings, discussion panels and parities.
