Detectives are still pursuing leads in a deadly hit-and-run incident on a Middle Village street last month.

Police said that Mariusz Szabat, 55, of 75th Street was walking with his bike eastbound on Juniper Valley Road near Gray Street at 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 17 when he was struck by a Jeep Liberty traveling in the same direction.

The impact, authorities said, caused Szabat to hit a nearby parked, unoccupied 2006 Toyota. Despite hitting the man, the Jeep Liberty driver did not stop and fled in an unknown direction.

Officers from the 104th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Paramedics brought Szabat to Elmhurst Hospital, where he died of his injuries on Oct. 19.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation continues.
