Man jumps the turnstile and attacks a police officer at a Long Island City subway station

Police are looking for a man who jumped the turnstile at a Long Island City subway station and assaulted the police officer who tried to stop him.

On Nov. 14 at 12:35 p.m., law enforcement sources said, the uniformed, on-duty female officer spotted the perpetrator jumping a turnstile without paying at the Queens Plaza subway station. When the officer engaged the suspect in conversation, police said, the perpetrator shoved her to the floor and fled into the station.

Authorities said the cop pursued the suspect, but lost him when he fled the station aboard a Queens-bound train. The officer wound up going to a local hospital, where she was treated for injuries to her back and left hand.

The suspect is described as an Asian/Pacific Islander man between the ages of 20- and 25-years-old, standing 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and weighing 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red, white and blue winter hat, a black leather jacket and blue jeans.
