Detectives arrested this week a Middle Village man who allegedly downloaded more than four terabytes of child pornography, some of which he shared with other online creeps, prosecutors said.

John Porciello, 56, of 64th Street faces 27 charges of promoting a sexual performance by a child and another 27 counts of possessing a sexual performance by a child, according to Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown.

Porciello was arrested on Dec. 13 after police executed a court-authorized search of his residence and seized his external hard drive. Through a forensic examination of the hard drive, law enforcement sources said, they found numerous videos and images of children being abused.

During questioning, Brown said, Porciello allegedly admitted to collecting child porn over the last 10 years. He allegedly downloaded the explicit material — some of which showed children as young as 5 years of age being sexually abused — from a peer-to-peer network onto an external hard drive. He then sorted the videos and images by the children’s age and used the material to pleasure himself.

While monitoring downloads from a peer-to-peer network, authorities said, NYPD officers came across an IP address that was later linked to Porciello. One officer downloaded three child porn videos that Porciello allegedly shared on the network.

“The defendant’s alleged collection of child sex abuse imagery is both revolting and disgusting, and underscores the critical need for law enforcement’s internet surveillance initiative to protect children from pedophiles and predators,” Brown said in a statement. “The public should be aware that these images are, for all intents and purposes, crime scene photos and videos of real children that are being abused in the most heinous ways. These youngsters must live with the horror of their childhood for the rest of their lives.”

During his arraignment on Dec. 13, Porciello was ordered held on $75,000 bond or $35,000 cash and to return to court on Dec. 27. He faces up to seven years behind bars if convicted.
