A man who jumped from the Queens Center mall promenade in an apparent suicide on New Year’s Day has died of his injuries, police said.

Police responded to a call at about 6:09 p.m. after Tobar Galo, 45, threw himself off the top floor of the Elmhurst shopping center located at 90-15 Queens Blvd.

Galo was transported to Elmhurst Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries, police said.

In 2013, a 28-year-old man jumped to his death from the third floor of the mall. He was also taken to Elmhurst Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Queens was also the site of the first homicide of 2018. The victim, Stacy Loknath, was found with multiple stab wounds inside her home on 103rd Avenue near 113th Street at 1:09 p.m. on Jan. 1, police said.

Earlier in the morning, police reportedly found her 42-year-old husband hanging from a tree in Forest Park. The New York Daily News reported that Loknath, a mother of two, was stabbed multiple times in the back.
