A 65-year-old man was found fatally shot in the head in front of a Queens Village home on Thursday morning, police said.

Officers from the 105th Precinct responded at 8:14 a.m. on Jan. 18 to a 911 call of an unconscious man at a home on Bardwell Avenue near 209th Place.

Upon arriving, law enforcement sources said, they found Don Gonzalez, 65, on the front lawn unconscious with a gunshot wound to his head. Arriving paramedics pronounced Gonzalez dead at the scene; his body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Sources familiar with the investigation stated that blood was found in the hallway of the residence. It’s believed that the home is occupied by squatters, and it’s unclear at this time as to whether Gonzalez legally resided there.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. Further details will be provided once they are made available.
