Detectives investigating body found washed up on a Long Island City pier

Cops found an unidentified man dead on an East River pier in Long Island City on Friday morning.

Officers from the 108th Precinct responded at 10:28 a.m. on Feb. 23 to a 911 call of an unconscious man on the pier near 44th Drive near what was once The Water’s Edge restaurant, about a block west of Vernon Boulevard.

Law enforcement sources said the responding officers found the unidentified man lying face down at the location. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene; police did not immediately know how long the man had been there.

Police did not disclose the man’s identity, pending family notification. His body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
