Bike-riding bandit robs and assaults a 92-year-old woman on an Astoria street

Police have released video footage of a bike-riding thief who attacked a 92-year-old woman in Astoria on Saturday night.

Law enforcement sources said the incident occurred at 7:30 p.m. on March 3 as the victim walked along 46th Street near 30th Avenue.

According to authorities, the unidentified male perpetrator rode up to the woman from behind and forcibly grabbed her purse off her arm. This caused the woman to fall to the ground, busting her nose in the process. The crook pedaled away from the scene.

Officers from the 114th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene. Paramedics brought the woman to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was treated for a nose laceration as well as pain to her left shoulder and arm.
