Detectives continue to search for the suspect who shot a 31-year-old man to death inside a grocery store in Jackson Heights on Thursday.

Law enforcement sources said the deadly shooting occurred a little before 8:15 p.m. on March 22 inside the 5 de Mayo Food Market at 81-06 Roosevelt Ave., near 81st Street.

Officers from the 110th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call about the incident, found the victim unconscious and unresponsive with two gunshot wounds to his chest.

Paramedics rushed the man to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was pronounced dead; as of Friday morning, his identity was not released by police pending family notification.

At this time, police sources said that they do not know the circumstances that led up to the shooting, nor did they have a description of the shooter. WABC-TV reported that the unidentified suspect walked up to the victim, shot him twice and immediately fled the scene.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
