Worker killed in horrific accident while moving massive marble slabs at Long Island City warehouse

A 50-year-old man was crushed to death while helping to move huge marble slabs at at Long Island City warehouse on Friday afternoon, it was reported.

Police said the deadly incident took place just before 5 p.m. on March 30 at Leadstone USA, a “quartz manufacturing company” located at 50-09 27th St., near Borden Avenue.

The New York Daily News reported that the unidentified worker was using a mechanical hoist to move the two slabs when he apparently fell and became trapped under the rock.

Officers from the 108th Precinct and EMS units were called to the scene. Upon arriving, the officers found the man with severe trauma to his neck; paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The worker’s identity was not released, pending family notification.

His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause of death.

An investigation is ongoing.
