Mother Nature playing an April Fool’s joke on Queens with more snow in the forecast

Oh come on! Really? More of this?!

Easter and Passover have arrived, the Mets and Yankees have started the regular season, and the calendar reads April. But winter in Queens and the rest of the New York City area just won’t go away.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of the area as a cold front comes through tomorrow morning. Expect to see 2 to 3 inches of snow across the borough, making for a wet and messy Monday morning commute.

The advisory is in effect from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 2; the heaviest snow, according to the NWS, will take place during the morning rush hour, with some areas experiencing snowfall totals of about 1 inch per hour. The snow should be gone by the afternoon, so the Yankees’ home opener in the Bronx at 1 p.m. tomorrow should go on as scheduled.

With temperatures expected to rise into the mid-40s tomorrow and even into the 60s by Wednesday, according to AccuWeather, it figures that whatever snow falls won’t be around for very long.

So don’t forget to wear your heavy coats and boots tomorrow morning, as you’ll probably need them for maybe, hopefully, finally the last time this season.

Editor’s note: The preceding article is most definitely NOT an April Fool’s joke, though we wish it was.
