Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob a bank in Elmhurst on Monday morning.
According to police, officers from the 110th Precinct responded to a 911 call at 10:10 a.m. on April 23 at the Chase bank located at 89-21 Queens Blvd.
Law enforcement sources said the suspect attempted to procure money from the bank by giving a note to the teller, but was unsuccessful. The suspect then fled the scene empty-handed before the teller could respond to his request.
Police described the suspect as a black man in his 40s or 50s, who is about 6’0″ tall and between 160 to 170 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black business suit, dark sunglasses and a hat and while holding a black briefcase.
This incident was linked to a robbery in Downtown Brooklyn around 2 p.m. on April 23. A man matching the same description approached a teller at a Chase bank at 4 MetroTech Center and produced a demand note. After the teller complied, the man fled the scene with an undetermined amount of money.
At this time, detectives are actively looking for the suspect; no arrests have been made.
