Flight has always been an intriguing phenomenon. Since the beginning of time drawings, paintings and models were made expressing a desire to fly. From the Stone age to Leonardo da Vinci, to the Wright Brothers, and even to this day we continue our fascination of flight.

For an artist to have his work destroyed because of unfounded accusations of communist activity is unforgivable. Too have the work reappear because of a few caring gentleman, Pierce, Arend, Rockefeller, Wallace and conservator Farancz is absolutely heartwarming.
The re-dedication of the mural took place in May, 1980. Artist James Brooks, was in attendance. Arrend said, "This was the proudest day in Brooks life".
In the early 1980s the WPA Mural "Flight" was put on the list of New York Landmarks as was the Marine Air Terminal. Both are now oficial national landmarks.
