New York Metropolitan Country Music Association holds its' annual benefit for St. Jude's Childrens' Hospital Sat., Feb. 5, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Several local bands will participate, including Ridin' High, The Neil Scott Johnson Band, and Savannah Sky. There will be many items to be sold, by auction or raffle during the event, including items such as dance lessons from local country music dance instructors to statues to pizzas, all obtained through donations from local businsses. Admission: $10 and all proceeds will donated to St. Jude's. No one under the age of 18 will be admitted. 718-763-4328.

Black History Month

In celebration of Black History Month, Jubba Jazz and Jammin', a theatrical company of dancers, musicians, and singers will perform at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center at LaGuardia Community College on Feb. 6. The performance, which will be held in the college's Mainstage Theatre located at 47th Avenue at Van Dam Street, Long Island City, will begin at 2 pm. Tickets: $8, $5. 718-482-5151.

The Lefferts Branch presents Storytelling With Linda Hume on Thurs., Feb. 3 at 4 p.m.. The Central Library presents E-Mail For You on Fri., Feb 4 at 10 a.m. Learn basic keyboarding, basic computer skills, including using the mouse, web-browser basics using Internet Explorer and sign up for a personal e-mail account at the Library. The Cross Island YMCA is proud to offer American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR and First Aid. The Course begins on Sun., Feb. 6 with a pretest and is followed by five consecutive Sundays. The cost is $180 for YMCA members and $200 for non-members. Both must pay a $35 certification fee. Textbooks (Lifeguarding Today gr CPR for Professional Rescuer) are not included and can be purchased from the American Red Cross. Attendance at all classes is mandatory for successfUl completion. Clubs

To help the immigrants overcome their communication barriers in English, the Humanist Center of Cultures of Jackson Heights is organizing a free weekly Multicultural Conversation Club. Dancing

The Long Island Singles hosts an afternoon of socializing, and Social Dancing 50+, every Wednesday and Friday from 12 Noon to 4 p.m. featuring the best danceable ballroom dance music, offering coffee, bagels, pastries, allafternoon, a free lesson for beginners and advanced, a nice wood dance floor and introductions, for a $6 donation at the NCI Club, 800 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park. Social Orientation for new members will be held Wednesdays and Fridays, 12 Noon for Singles Widowed, Divorced and Separated.
