Acclaimed international concert pianist Molly Vivian Huang returns to LaGuardia Performing Arts Friday, March 31, at 1:30 p.m., to give a recital program including the works of J.S. Bach, Beethoven, Copland, Gershwin, and Chopin.
As part of the Teatime Concert Series presented by the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, the recital will be held at the Little Theater on 31-10 Thomson Ave. in Long Island City.
Born to Chinese parents in Manila, the Philippines, Huang was first taught piano when she was 4, by her mother, who had an associate degree in music. In 1972, she moved to Germany after receiving a scholarship from the world-renowned Cologne Conservatory of Music in Germany, where she studied for five years.
In 1977, she relocated to Philadelphia, after receiving a scholarship to the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied for three years. In 1980, she came to New York City, first living in Brooklyn, then Manhattan, before eventually settling in Nassau County.
