A student at Springfield Gardens High School deliberately slammed the door on her teacher’s finger last Thursday, severing the tip of it, police said.

April Payne, 18, was arrested and charged with assault, while the teacher, Ronald Worch, was take to Mary Immaculate Hospital, said Jerry Varson, a Police Department spokesman.

“She intentionally slammed the door on his hand,” Varson said of the incident.

Doctors attempted to reattach the tip of Worch’s finger, but were unsuccessful, said Juliet Lewis, a hospital spokeswoman.

Worch spent a few hours in the hospital and then went home, after scheduling a follow-up appointment with a hand surgeon for the following day, Lewis said.

The Queens Board of Education and Springfield Gardens High School at 143-10 Springfield Blvd. in Laurelton, declined to comment Friday.
