BAYSIDE — The police arrested three teens from Long Island Tuesday, charging them in at least three street robberies of teenagers who were attacked and whose money was taken from them, police said.
The teenagers — Jong Yoo, 17, of Massapequa; Jeong Han, 17, of Great Neck; and Jong Kim; 18 of New Hyde Park — were each charged with robbery, said Officer Chris Cottingham, a police spokesman.
The police did not know when the robberies were committed, but they said the teens were suspected of committing at least three in Bayside.
In each of the robberies, the victims were robbed and then assaulted, the police said. In some cases, the victims were punched, they said.
$25K in cash taken from 127th St. store
COLLEGE POINT — A burglar or burglars broke into a store at 18-25 127th St. late Sunday night and stole $25,000 in cash, police said.
Police were investigating.
Teacher charged with having cocaine on Briarwood street
BRIARWOOD — A public school teacher was arrested Friday afternoon and charged with possessing cocaine, police said.
Jean Coeroli, 44, was arrested around 4:15 p.m. on 87th Avenue and 143rd Street, said Detective Carolyn Chew, a police spokeswoman.
He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, which police said was cocaine.
Police said they did not know the name of the school where Coeroli teaches.
Boy, 10, fighting for life after being hit by car
HOLLIS — A 10-year-old boy was struck by a car in Hollis Monday morning and severely injured, although he continued to fight for his life Tuesday, police said.
The boy was in critical but stable condition Tuesday at Mary Immaculate Hospital, said hospital spokeswoman Juliet Lewis.
Tristan Francis of Cambria Heights was on his way to school with his uncle Monday morning when he suddenly ran into the street, Newsday reported Tuesday.
A 1999 Toyota hit the boy at 197th Street and 104th Avenue, said Cadet John Buthoron, a spokesman for the Police Department.
The driver did not appear to be at fault and was not charged with any crime, police said.
The boy, who is a fourth grader at PS 147 in St. Albans, underwent surgery Monday night to reduce the pressure in his brain but remained in a coma, Newsday reported.
Man charged with wallet theft after S. Jamaica chase
SOUTH JAMAICA — After a brief chase early Wednesday morning, the police arrested a 36-year-old man, who was charged with stealing a wallet from a man standing on a street corner.
The robbery happened at 1:23 a.m. Wednesday morning, on the corner of Foch Boulevard and 138th Street, said Officer Chris Cottingham, a police spokesman. The man then ran behind a building at 117-11 132nd St., the police said, and the victim called police.
As they were looking for the man, a pit bull tried to attack the officers, the police said. An officer fired one gunshot, which did not strike the dog, Cottingham said. The dog ran away and the police arrested the man.
The police identified him as Troy Bates, 36, of 115-15 126th St.. He was charged with robbery, Cottingham said.
Man killed at home in Far Rockaway
FAR ROCKAWAY — A 28-year-old man was fatally shot in his home Monday morning, police said.
The shooting happened around 11:35 a.m. Monday at 1133 Norton Drive, said Officer Louis Cruz, a department spokesman.
The man, who was not identified, was shot once, police said.
He was taken to Jamaica Hospital, where he died, they said.
Man found unconscious on F train dies soon later
FOREST HILLS — A man who was found unconscious Saturday afternoon on the subway died soon after he was taken to the hospital, police said.
The man, who was not identified, was found unconscious on the F train at 75th Avenue and Queens Boulevard about 2 p.m. Saturday, said Officer Joseph Cavitolo, a police spokesman. The victim was taken to Parkway Hospital, where he died.
The medical examiner was to determine the cause of death, police said.
Elderly man struckin 82nd St. hit-and-run
JACKSON HEIGHTS — An 89-year-old man was in critical condition Friday night after being hit by a car while crossing the street, the police said.
The man, who was not identified, was crossing at the intersection of 82nd Street and Northern Boulevard around 10:40 p.m. when a car ran a red light and struck him, said Detective Carolyn Chew, a police spokeswoman.
Police said the driver fled in the car north on Northern Boulevard.
The man was taken to Elmhurst Hospital where he was listed in critical condition Friday night, police said.
19-year-old man stabbed, punched on Cypress Ave.
RIDGEWOOD — Two teenagers accused of stabbing a man and hitting him over the head with a bottle were arrested Saturday night and charged with attempted murder, police said.
The 19-year-old victim was sitting in the passenger seat of a car at 10-32 Cypress Ave. around 9:50 p.m. when he was attacked, said Detective Madelyne Galindo, a police spokeswoman.
One of the two assailants — who were 15 and 17 years old — punched the victim in the face, police said.
The victim tried to defend himself, police said, but was stabbed by one of the assailants and hit over the head with a bottle by the other. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Saturday night, Galindo said.
The teenagers, who were not identified, were both charged with attempted murder, Galindo said.
$320 in coins stolen in Astoria bank burglary
ASTORIA – A burglar or burglars stole $320 in coins from the EAB Bank at 25-19 Steinway St. in Astoria, police said Monday.
The assistant bank manager was unable to open the door to the bank Monday morning, said Cadet John Buthoron, a police spokesman.
The bank had been entered through a wall to an adjacent, vacant lot, Buthoron said.
Swastika painted on door of PS 60
WOODHAVEN — A swastika was found painted on the door of PS 60 Friday night, police said.
Detective Madelyne Galindo, a police spokeswoman, said the swastika was discovered on the door of PS 60 at 91-02 88th Ave., around 11 p.m. Friday night.
The incident was reported to police Monday morning.
