Junior Division
Peter Pan Games 3, G&G Realty 2. Billy O'Donnell pitched a complete game, six-hitter, striking out 10, and contributed a two-run first inning home run. Nick Kofteris provided the game-winning hit. Harry Jung had several dazzling catches in left field and Jameson Bosco again had an excellent game behind the plate. For G&G, Joey Pascullo played well at second base and Richie Armento pitching seven solid innings.
Minor Division
Major Homes 25, Starlight Caterers 15. For Starlight Caterers, Sean Donnelly had two hits, including a home run. For Major Homes, Derek Lamacchia hit for the cycle and Guy Benbensti had three hits.
Major Homes 7, Party City 1. Steven Mare led the way for Major Homes by clearing the bases with a triple and with Robert Klein pitching four scoreless innings. Paul Jordan did a fine job pitching two scoreless innings for Party City.
Major Homes 10, Bell Bay Florist 2. Robert Salrio and Martin Biniakewitz provided the offense for Bell Bay. For Major Homes, Steven Mare was 3-for-3 and Chris Marzano flashed the leather with some fine defense.
Valle Tile and Marble 15, Iannece 2001 8. For Valle Tile, Marinos Iacovou had two hits and a couple of RBIs, while Michael Keen had a big triple and pitched a complete game. Michael Andreou had a homer and a triple and Vincent Iannece had a double, triple and two RBIs for Iannece 2001.
James Engravers 5, Mardene Construction 4. For James Engravers, Cal Sternick pitched six innings and struck out 12 and had an RBI single, while Joseph De Santis was solid in the field and drove in the winning run in the third inning. Christopher Garthright hit a hard double in second inning to bring a run in. For Mardene Construction, Kevin Smith was 2-for-3 with two singles and a stolen base and Joey Stormont was 2-for-2 with two stolen bases.
Party City 10, Bell Bay Florist 9. The excitement was overflowing as Party City came from behind on a fifth inning three-run homer by Jose Nunez. Brian Timmermans had a strong defensive game behind the plate for PC. Tommy Duran and Eddie Cooney had impressive games for Bell Bay Florist.
Party City 11, Mardene Construction 8. Party City upped its record to 7-1 as Mike Galati had two hits and three RBIs, Alex Golematis ripped two hits and drove in three and Robert Romano was 3-for-3. Joe Schade had two hits and two RBIs and Anthony Caccamo had a great game for Mardene.
Major Division
Stabile and Stabile CPA 15, F. Nicholson Law 0. Stabile was led by the hitting of Robert Larusso, Peter Scianna, Michael Banome and Matt Becce. Defensive standouts for Stabile were Jimmy Bernard at second base and Michael Banome at first.
Stabile and Stabile CPA 11, Applebee's of Bayside 1. Frankie Davi pitched a complete game four-hitter and Billy Demos drove in two runs going 2-for-2. Applebee’s hit the ball well, but everywhere there was a Stabile player. Joey Wylie made two crucial put-outs in left field. Robert Larusso was 4-for-4, including two doubles and a triple with four RBIs. Applebee’s Tim Doepfner connected on a line double to left field, driving in the sole run.
Applebee’s of Bayside 9, F. Nicholson Law 2. Applebee's got a great pitching performance from Tim Doepfner to lead the team to a much needed win. Doepfner struck out 10 batters and went the distance for the team. Applebee’s got some key hits from Philip Varsam, Kyle Porter and Doepfner. F. Nicholson Law received a great game from Ryan Tokar.
Bayside Plumbing 5, Biordi Construction 4. David Pereira hit a two-run homer in the third and hit a game-winning solo shot in the eighth to power Bayside Plumbing over a streaking Biordi team. Plumbing’s Anthony Costa took a relay from the outfield and fired a strike to Angelo Costanos to nail a runner at the plate. Sal Rongo pitched six innings, striking out 12 batters. For Biordi, Danny Perry played excellent defense in left field, Derek Sucato drove in two runs with a double and Joey Catalanotto hit a double, driving in a run.
Texas Division
Headlines 18, Clearview Paint 3. Despite the score, there were several bright spots for Clearview. Kenny Marzocco was once again the hitting hero, supplying a three-run homer. Michael Pisani and Thomas O'Byrne were also swinging the bat well and just missed some key hits. Joey Addamo flashed the leather in the field, stopping a couple of big innings.
Hot Bagels & Bake 10, Hatton Funeral Home 4. Bagel’s John Pinerio pitched three innings of shut-out ball and had three hits, including a first-inning home run. Anthony Musso and Dan Sawchuk also put in solid defensive performances. Hatton’s Joe Jenson provided outstanding relief pitching and John Halkiadalis’ gold-glove fielding kept the game close.
Clearview Paint vs. North Shore Baptist Church. Patrick Jordan not only contributed with his glove at third for Clearview, but also added some offensive firepower. Michael Bilik, playing center for Clearview, was able to get to everything in his reach and threw out a runner at home, short-circuiting a rally for North Shore. Vincent Guerra made some outstanding plays at short, keeping Clearview in the game. Patrick Rifino, catching the whole game, not only handled the pitching staff, but also made a couple of put-outs at home, including an unassisted double play.
Headlines 15, Prava Construction 6. Ricky Sanchez kicked off Headlines’ season, pitching a sparkling one-hitter. Sanchez tossed only 28 pitches in his three-inning performance. The offense was led by Alex Chateau and Brendan Fitzpatrick, both reaching base four times with two hits and two walks. Tommy Monte launched two home runs over the leftfielder’s head. Prava Construction’s Johnny Pagano and Anthony Yacavone were outstanding sharing the pitching and catching duties, as well as chipping in with a few RBI singles.
Headlines 7, Bourbon Street 1. Headlines’ offense was led by Dominick Formato, who slammed an RBI double and a single. Jeffrey Johnston added to the scoring with his first RBI of the season. Michael Kohn was impressive in his pitching debut. Tony Davi, Jake Sternick and Eamon O’Connor played flawless defense, holding Bourbon Street to one run. Brian McGirt and James Caffrey were the stars of the game for Bourbon Street.
Headlines 22, Fader Law 4. Brendan Fitzpatrick blasted a grand slam and Alex Chateau went 6-for-6 for a rallying Headlines team. Jake Sternick reached base six times and Tommy Monte launched a two-run homer.
Headlines 13, Hot Bagels and Bake 3. Jonathan Chen singled up the middle, driving-in his first RBI of the season. Michael Kohn pitched three shut-out innings, with the save going to Jake Sternick. Ricky Sanchez and Brendan Fitzpatrick alternating in center field, both made rally-ending catches. For Hot Bagels, Joseph Butler and Derek Arrigo had big RBIs.
Knights of Colombus-Joyce Kilmer 20, Clearview Paint 12. Anthony Polito pitched a 2 1/3 innings for his first win and hit four home runs, three of which were grand slams, recording 12 RBIs. Daniel Smith also added to the offensive attack with a first-inning grand slam to go 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Jamie Skala had a perfect day at the plate, going 4-for-4 with two runs scored and one RBI. Matthew Casbarro went 3-for-3 with four runs scored and two RBIs.
Kelly’s Car Service 6, Biordi Construction 5. Alex Robinson (2-for-3, triple, single) and Mike Guzowski (2-for-4, double, single) provided the offense to pace Kelly’s to victory. Guzowski and Liam Donahue held tough on the mound to get the win. Frankie Biordi pitched three strong innings and drove in three runs with a bases-clearing triple. He was aided by equally adept pitching from Leo Gussak and brother Sam Gussak, who added a triple and an RBI in the loss.
North Shore Baptist 15, Biordi Construction 5. Biordi Construction mounted a valiant comeback in their loss to North Shore Baptist. Biordi was led by the hitting of Tom Karcinski, who had a triple and two RBIs and Anthony Scianna, who had his first round-tripper and two RBIs to key a five-run fifth inning. Frankie Biordi and Sam Rowen each pitched strong innings in defeat.
Hatton’s Funeral Home 18, Prava Construction 12. Hatton’s Funeral Home improved to 4-0 with an 18-12 win over Prava
Construction. Hatton was led by Steven Arroyo’s clutch pitching and Alex Langrock’s game-winning RBI. Prava Construction was led by John Aponte (3-for-3, four RBIs) and Sandy Tomasik (a double and two RBIs).
Texas Farm Division
Padavan’s Paragons vs. Jackson Hole. The Paragons came out swinging their bats, led by Kyle Eberle with a double and three singles and Joe Black with four singles. Brendan Cosgrove and Matthew Kane both flashed some leather in the field with their gold-glove performances. Steve Koumides showed incredible quickness on the base paths in this fine performance enjoyed by all.
PeeWee Division
ASK Contracting vs Mardene Construction. Alex O’Brien received the game ball for ASK Contracting for his great day at the plate. Stephen Sullivan continued to help his teammates with a good day with the bat and a glove. Everyone on Mardene played a great game.
Marios Vinotheque vs ASK Contracting. Everyone on Marios Vinotheque had a great game. First baseman Nicholas Hurley made several sensational fielding plays, while third baseman Christopher Wren did the same on the opposite side of the diamond for ASK Contracting.
York Electric vs Mardene Construction. Mardene Construction had an impressive team effort, while Quinn Herrera and John Celetani were the big hitters for York Electric.
Mensch Lumber vs Mittman’s Medics. Charlie Soloman took game ball honors for Mench Lumber for his fine all around game, while teammate Kevin Reilly flashed some fancy leather at first base. Everyone on Mittman’s Medics had a great game.
Unique Finishes vs A&A Plumbing. A&A Plumbing was led by the slick fielding of Doug McGrath and the timely hitting of John Michael Lordi.
Depot Furniture vs Joe Bad. The stars of the game for Depot Furniture were Nicholas Griffin for flashing some hot defense and Jake Schade, who came up big with the bat. Lindsey Olownia scored two runs for Joe Bad with heady base running and teammate Emmanuel Diaz stroked two tape-measure shots.
