FLUSHING —A 50-year-old man was attacked by three people at the corner of Delaware Avenue and Murray Street early Wednesday morning, police said.
The victim was stabbed three times in the back and shoulder shortly past midnight, police said. He was taken to New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens, where he was listed in stable condition.
No arrests were made by press time.
Minivan passenger killed in accident on GCP at 94th St.
EAST ELMHURST — An eastbound minivan crashed into a pole on the Grand Central Parkway near 94th Street early Sunday, killing one of the passengers, police said.
Passenger Meneilly Rojas died at the scene of the 4:30 a.m. accident. Her husband, Jessain, was unconscious and in critical condition at New York Hospital Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Humberto Rojas, the driver, was in extremely critical condition at Elmhurst Hospital Center, and his wife, Miriam, the front passenger, was in fair condition with rib injuries, police said.
Jamaica man arrested in July 4 rape of woman
JAMAICA — A 27-year-old man was arrested in the July 4 rape of a 39-year-old woman, police said.
The victim was found by police on 179th Street, where she said she had been raped and assaulted, police said. The victim was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital for evaluation.
Johnny Gueits of 93rd Avenue was arrested in the attack, police said.
72-year-old man cut in neck in Jamaica; woman charged
JAMAICA — A 72-year-old man was in critical condition Friday after a violent dispute with a 33-year-old woman, police said.
Police found the man and arrested the woman, Julian Jackson, at about 12:15 a.m. inside of 103-24 169th St. in Jamaica, said Jerry Varson, a police spokesman.
Varson said the victim suffered a laceration to the neck, and was taken to Mary Immaculate Hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
Jackson was charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon, Varson said.
28-year-old man arrested in Ozone Park from TV tip
OZONE PARK — A suspect in the murder of a Florida businessman was arrested in Ozone Park Tuesday based on a tip that came into a television program, Newsday said.
The paper reported “America’s Most Wanted” broadcast a story last week about Douglas Hannam, 28, who allegedly participated in the 1999 murder of a Ft. Lauderdale auto-repair shop owner. Police arrested him at his apartment in Ozone Park early Tuesday morning after someone called the show’s hotline with information about Hannam’s location.
Hannam allegedly lost his thumb when the murder victim bit it off shortly before losing his life, the paper said.
Early morning blaze hits Laurelton home
LAURELTON — A two-alarm fire ripped through a one-story home on Merrick Boulevard early Monday morning, the Fire Department said.
The fire call came in at 2:48 a.m. at 232-06 Merrick Blvd. in Laurelton and became a second-alarm at 2:59, said Jimmy Maguire, a Fire Department spokesman.
The fire was declared under control at 4:32 a.m., Maguire said.
No injuries were reported.
Three mausoleums in Woodside broken into
WOODSIDE — Three mausoleums in New Calvary Cemetery were broken into Tuedsday, police said.
It was not known if anything was stolen from the site at 49-02 Laurel Hill Blvd., said Sgt. Brian Burke, a police spokesman.
Police were investigating.
One shot, another stabbed in dispute in Long Island City
LONG ISLAND CITY — One man was shot and another was stabbed in a dispute early Saturday morning inside 29-40 Northern Blvd., police said.
A 31-year-old man was shot in the neck and a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the back at around 3:50 a.m. Saturday, police said. Both were taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where the shooting victim was in critical condition and the stabbing victim in stable condition, police said.
No weapons were recovered.
