The 15-16 year old Village Liquors of the Glen Oaks Little League lost a heartbreaker to a team from Forest Hills, 7-6 in extra innings last week.

Todd Green pitched a super game in taking the loss for Glen Oaks, scattering nine hits, striking out 10 and pitched himself out of many tight jams in eight strong innings.

Glen Oaks led 6-3 going to the bottom of the seventh inning, only to allow the team from Forest Hills to score three runs to tie the score and send the game into extra innings.

Offensively Glen Oaks was led by David Chapman, who singled and homered and had 2 RBIs, Matt Carneiro, with a single and double and Jon Dilan who had 2 RBIs.

The game also featured Mike Mathlin getting his first hit of the season, a bunt single in Glen Oaks’ three-run third inning.

However, Forest Hills tied the game in the seventh with four hits and one in the eighth to seal their victory.

The Village Liquor team from Glen Oaks is now 3-2 in the summer season.
