LONG ISLAND CITY — A car overturned after hitting a pole while traveling eastbound on Queens Plaza South at Crescent Street, killing the passenger in a Mazda vehicle, police said.
The driver was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital in an unknown condition, police said.
The accident occurred at 4:33 a.m. Friday. No one has been arrested or charged in the ongoing investigation, police said.
ROSEDALE — Police said they arrested a man for allegedly stabbing a livery driver once in the hand and once in the face following a fare dispute Tuesday morning at 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of 148th Avenue and 257th Street.
The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital and was listed in stable condition, police said.
Police arrested Ali Morgan, 30, of 253-04 147th Drive and charged him with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
SOUTH OZONE PARK — An unidentified man robbed a Citibank at 133-07 Rockaway Blvd. Friday at 10:15 a.m. after he passed a note to a teller at gunpoint, police said. The man, who was wearing a dark jacket and a blue shirt, fled with an unknown amount of cash, police said.
Authorities said there were no arrests yet made in the ongoing investigation.
FLORAL PARK — Two men approached two separate North Fork Bank tellers at 257-03 Hillside Ave. Monday at 3:15 p.m. and passed them notes demanding money, police said.
The two men, identified as being in their 20s, fled with an unknown amount of cash, police said. There have been no arrests made and the investigation is continuing.
BRIARWOOD — A woman opened her garage at 86-20 144th St. Saturday at 9:20 a.m. and found an unidentified dead man inside, police said. Authorities had yet to determine the cause of death and said there were no signs of trauma on the man.
ROCKAWAY — An off-duty police officer was suspended Sunday pending an internal investigation in the 100th Precinct, police said. Officer Sylvia Threats was suspended.
FLUSHING — Authorities arrested three people last week in connection with a cigarette smuggling scheme operating in Flushing and Brooklyn, police said.
After gathering evidence along with the state Attorney General’s Office, police executed search warrants at 54-11 152nd St. in Flushing and two addresses in Sunset Park in Brooklyn on Friday, police said.
More than 97,000 packs with a street value of $727,500 and $2,214 in cash were seized, police said.
Jian Yun Wang, 37, Sheng Chen, 35, and Jian Ming Zhang, 45, were arrested without incident, police said. They were charged with trademark counterfeiting, forgery, possession of illegal cigarettes and possession of counterfeit tax stamps, police said.
“These individuals tried to make money selling cases of cigarettes marked with counterfeit tax stamps,” said Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly. “But we discovered their illegal enterprise and brought them to justice.”
QUEENSBORO HILL — An unidentified man was found unconscious at 137-24 Booth Memorial Ave. Monday at 8 p.m. and later pronounced dead, police said. Authorities said the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
JACKSON HEIGHTS — An unidentified 26-year-old man was shot once in the torso Sunday at 3:25 a.m. after a dispute at 26-44 Borough Place, police said. He was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center and listed in critical condition, police said.
Authorities do not have any suspects in the ongoing investigation and said they do not know of any motive in the case.
BRONX — A Queens man was charged with sex abuse for allegedly touching an unidentified female student’s breasts and buttocks March 28 at Clinton High School in the Bronx, police said. Authorities identified the man as John Soto, 45, of 30-20 Hobart St. in Jackson Heights.
