Astronaut Lands At St. Johns University

Michael Massimino, an astronaut who flew the fourth Hubble Telescope (HST) servicing mission in 2002, orbited around St. Johns University this Monday, to share his stories and adventures in space. The event was held to educate students about space exploration.
Massimino graduated Columbia University with master of science degrees in mechanical engineering and in technology and policy. Serving in the Astronaut Offices Robotics and Extravehicular Activity (EVA) branches at Johnson Space Center, Massimino has totaled 14 hours and 46 minutes in two spacewalks. He is currently serving as a CAPCOM (spacecraft communicator) in Mission Control and performs other technical tasks in the Astronaut Office branch.
The event at St. Johns was hosted by the universitys community relations department and co-hosted by Grand Lodge of Sons of Italy. Nearly 300 people attended.
