Brooklyn Knights U14 team ties Blau Weiss Gottschee

The Brooklyn Knights Under-14 squad opened their Super Y League season May 14 with a 3-3 tie with rival Blau Weiss Gottschee at the Metropolitan Oval.

The Knights scored first with goals from Rilwan (Rex) Salawu, off a great pass from Capt. Anthony Alvila and a close in shot from Wilmer Barona.

Gottschee came back with three straight goals, but the Knights did not give up and got the equalizer on a long shot from outside the penalty area by Steven Reyes.

Ten minutes of overtime was added, but neither team could score the golden goal winner.

The Knights’ central defense of John Gallego and Mauricio Duran was solid all night.

The game was a fast, hard-fought affair, with neither team giving an inch. Coach Pietro Asaro was pleased with the overall effort of his team in its first match.

The next stop for Knights is F.C. Westchester on May 28 at the Oval.
