Pier 25A 2, Bell Bay Florist 0. In a rain-shortened game, the Pier pulled out the victory. Pitcher Tony Koulotouros gave up only two hits over four innings in the mud of Valle East field.] John Wynne sparkled on the bases with three swipes and scored what turned out to be the only run the Pier needed. For Bell Bay, Steven Kinally and Joe Kurtz produced the only two rain-soaked hits.

Pier 25A 2, Hi-Tech Metal 1. In a tremendous pitchers’ duel, Pier 25A squeaked out a narrow victory. The dynamic pitching duo of Mike Guzowski and Terrance Manfredonia combined to allow only six hits while striking out nine.

The deciding run was scored in the bottom of the fifth, as John Gonzalez smashed a single off the first baseman’s leg and ended up scoring as Hi-Tech made a throwing error, which allowed him to score without a play at the plate. Michael Keene was brilliant on the mound, allowing only one unearned run and striking out seven in four innings of work.

Pier 25A 12, Corona Pork Store 9. After being down 6-1 through the first three, Pier 25A scored 11 runs in the next three innings and stormed to victory. Peter Levantis had a perfect day, going 4-for-4 with a towering homer and clearing the 200-foot fence in left field.

Danny Costa played like Willie Mays in center field, taking away Corona’s chances of extra base hits to the outfield. Sal Ambrosino also had three hits and prevented a home run by leaping and knocking down a laser shot to left field.

It was Derek Lamacchia who was the victim of Sal’s thievery, however. Derek hit a first-inning home run and ended up going 3-for-4. Leadoff hitter GianCarlo hit a grand slam home run and ended up going 2-for-2 with four runs scored.

Pacific Lawn 5, Valle Tile 4. Rob Renzi hit a two-out double to drive in the winning run, and Laz Wigley, Liam Donahue and Kevin Smith combined for win. For Valle Tile, Matt Valle hit his third home run of the season.

Corona Park Pork Store 13, Party City 1. George Theodoropoulos went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs to add to a single and two runs scored by teammate Mike Georgiou, as Corona Park beat the Party City Nine. Mike Galati singled for Party City.

Club Care 9, Bourbon Street 3. Jared Katz and Zachary Tito led the Club Care squad over Bourbon Street with heads up fielding and base-running. Nick Copelli and Brandon Rosenthal stood out for the Bourbon Street nine.

Corona Park Pork Store 6, Bourbon Street 0. Bourbon Street’s Joseph Mangone made three put-outs in left field to contain the Pork store sluggers. Chris Lundgren played a fine first base for the Pork Store and singled and scored. Joey Ruocco, who has a .420 on-base percentage for the Corona team, added to the victory.

Corona Park Pork Store 14, Pier 25A 3. Sal hit a double and Justice singled for Pier 25A. For the Corona squad Chris Lundgren had two RBIs, Steven Mare smacked a two-run double, giving him a total of three RBIs on the day, Giancarlo Santillo hit a triple and scored three times, Mikje Georgiou went 2-for-3 and scored three runs and Corona’s Paulk Giacomino was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Valle Tile 7, Bell Bay Florist 5. Matt Valle reached base three times and scored a run for the Valle team. Teammate Patrick O’Donoghue singled and scored a run and reached base another two times on walks. Chris Garthright, Dylan Pleva and Matt Scherl all scored runs, as Valle Tile outlasted Bell Bay for the win. For Bell Bay Florist, Joe Kurtz had two hits , including a double and a run scored. Eddie Nasser, Brian Wren, Steve Kinnaly and Andrew Havelin all had hits in the game.

Valle Tile 7, Mardene Construction 0. Valle Tile was able to shut down the powerful Mardene group behind the strong pitching of James Kaso (3 innings, 0 hits, 3 K’s, 2 walks, 0 runs) and Michael DiNoto ( 3innings, 3 hits, 3 K’s and 0 runs). The last play of the game — a hit to right field with two out and a man on second — Valle’s Thomas Duran fielded the ball and threw a strike to the plate where catcher Matthew Valle applied the tag to preserve the shutout.

PeeWee Division

Pearl St. Diner vs. Bagel and Bake. Every player on Bagel and Bake came out with two big hits. Pearl St. Diner continued to show fine player development with Ad Petkanas earning the game ball for his stellar defensive work in the infield and Stephanie Stathopoulos excelling with the big stick.

Titan Development vs. Duce Construction. Titan Development continued to tear up the PeeWee circuit. Danny Rodriguez was his consistently excellent self on both offense and defense. Teammates Brian Baer and Lee Porzungolo were not to be outdone, either, as they both turned in fine all-around performances.

Duce Construction was Titan’s equal in every way, as all players hit in each plate appearance and a fine defensive effort was turned in by the entire team.

Texas Division

Internet Business Group 11, A & A Plumbing 8. Internet Business Group won, 11-8, behind the strong pitching performances of Michael Nittolo, Julian Bilodeau and Jesse Pau. Catcher Julien Amorelli did a great job handling the pitchers, as well as making a couple of great defensive plays behind the plate.

The offense was led by Jesse Pau’s three RBIs and a couple of keys hits from Thomas Dougherty and Tony Kentrotas. Dylan Laube also got on base a couple of times and scored once for the winners.

For A & A Plumbing, pitcher Anthony Palermo not only pitched three strong innings but also hit a grand slam home run. Their other pitcher, Michael Lordi, had a good outing, along with a double and an RBI. Thomas Nacinovich had a couple of hits for his team in a closely contested ballgame.

A & A Plumbing 14, Pilling Real Estate 13. For A & A Plumbing, Dougie McGrath went 3-for-5 with two singles and a double and scored the tying run in the sixth inning. Andrew Vecchio had two key hits and an excellent game, catching the first three innings. Jake Palmer turned in two defensive gems at second base, fielding two hard-hit ground balls.

The bats were alive for Pilling as Michael Levine had three singles, going 3-for-4 and scoring two runs. Jordan Chateau went 3-for-4 with two singles and a bases-clearing triple in the defeat. Philip Cicciarello had two great plays in the outfield to stop two big innings for A & A Plumbing.

Outback Steakhouse 10, VI Pizza 5. Outback scored five runs in the first and second innings as Anthony Kavalis went 2-for-3 with five RBIs in his best performance of the year. Frank Arigo went 3-for-3 and pitched two innings with four strikeouts while only allowing one run.

Anthony Panepinto and Kevin Reilly both went 2-for-3 and knocked in three runs each. Nick Loccisano pitched the first three innings, protecting the lead with nine strikeouts.

For VI Pizza, Danny Finn had two doubles and a triple while knocking in four of his team’s five runs. Sean Feehan pitched a fine third and fourth inning for VI Pizza after the damage was already done.

R. Klein 5, Papazzio’s Restaurant 1. In a defensive battle, R Klein, CPA got the win, 5-1. The game ball for R. Klein, CPA went to Alessandro Pachero for his continued fine play at first base. Robert Klein sparkled at second base with three put outs. Offensively, it was Zachary Yankowitz and Sal Oppedisano who combined to be on base four out of five times with three RBIs for R. Klein, CPA.

Papazzio’s was led by Daniel Soares, who pitched three strong innings. Andrew Goldstein was solid at defense, recording two put outs, including a great catch at shortstop. Andrew Vitti provided the offensive with a well-stroked double for Papazzio’s.
