By Dylan Butler

Queens College women’s basketball coach Denis Conroy said Erin White is beginning to accept her role as co-leading scorer with Shonda Holder, and the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference has taken notice as the sophomore guard from Flushing was named NYCAC Player of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.

The former St. Francis Prep standout averaged 22 points, 4.5 rebounds and two steals in a pair of Knights’ wins last week.

White scored a career-high 28 points on 7-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc in a 77-68 win over Dowling last Thursday. She then shook off a slow start to score 16 points and grab six rebounds in a 76-58 win at Concordia Saturday that extended Queens’ win streak to seven games.

After scoring the 1,000th point of her collegiate career at Bridgeport earlier this month, Holder moved into second place on the Queens all-time rebounding list with her 700th last Thursday against Dowling. In the process, the junior forward from Uniondale registered her 15th double-double of the year.

Senior Erin Dollard registered her 300th career assist and her 500th career rebound last week as well. The former Grover Cleveland star from Elmhurst is second all-time in assists and has played in 104 consecutive games, all but one as a starter.
