Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a staple in the field of senior care, is opening its doors to the Beth Abraham Family of Health Services — a not-for-profit Bronx-based residential and community health provider.
The heads of both organizations said they combined their network of services to provide quality health care and emotional support to their patrons through newly-collected knowledge and leadership.
“This relationship will greatly benefit both organizations on a number of different levels,” said Kenneth Brown, president and CEO of the Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. “Employees will have an organizational structure that may provide growth opportunity and residents and patients will have a sense of comfort that two reputable and dynamic organizations will provide access to a myriad of inpatient and community-based programs.”
The administrative management and the 310 faculty members at Margaret Tietz will remain the same and will continue to be dedicated to the center’s core mission and values.
The Margaret Tietz Center has been a part of the Queens community for almost 35 years. It opened in 1971, originally as a nursing facility for Holocaust survivors. The center still services individuals whose lives have been influenced by Nazi persecution in Europe, but has also expanded their client base to others in the community.
The Beth Abraham Family of Health Services is a continuing-care organization established to care for poor, chronically-ill and disabled adults of all ages and backgrounds. It will act as the parent company to Margaret Tietz.
“We are proud that the Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is joining our organization and feel that with them, we can take the next step and support more who need our assistance in other communities,” said Michael Fassler, president and CEO of Beth Abraham.
Both organizations are eager to consolidate their efforts to move into a new era of quality senior health care on a multi-regional basis.
“Margaret Tietz is very reputable in their community,” said Fassler. “This union works out well for both organizations. We have had home care and managed care programs here at Beth Abraham that we wanted to expand to Queens. The progressive programs offered through the facility fit perfectly with Beth Abraham’s long history of community service and innovation.”
Margaret Tietz provides a variety of programs unique to the field of long-term care.
Beth Abraham operates three residential skilled nursing facilities in the Bronx, Brooklyn and Westchester, servicing nearly 5,000 people daily.
