In court, Minucci complains about treatment in jail

By Howard Koplowitz

Nicholas “Fat Nick” Minucci, the white 19-year-old Howard Beach resident accused of beating a black man while shouting racial slurs at him in the neighborhood last summer said in Queens Supreme Court Thursday that authorities are holding the wrong man.

“I have been arrested for eight months now in what you can say is solitary confinement. (I'm) being treated like an animal,” he said in addressing Queens Supreme Court Justice Joseph Grosso. “I want to know why I am being prosecuted. They have the wrong person seated at this table.”

The statement in open court came shortly after closing arguments in hearings to determine whether or not audio and videotaped remarks Minucci made while being held at the 106th Precinct last June would be admissible at trial.

Grosso said he would make a ruling March 8.
