Tram Rescue

All of the individuals stranded on the Roosevelt Island Tram were rescued on April 19 using a special rescue cage and/or crane and bucket. The passengers were suspended for nearly 12 hours. The rescued included 47 from the Roosevelt Island-bound gondola and 21 from the New York-bound gondola for a total of 68 individuals. There were no injuries reported, and passengers young and old were happy to be back on the ground.
