The Little Neck-Douglaston Memorial Day Parade, the country’s largest and last, was held on Monday, May 29. With bagpipers, horses, military groups, marching bands, scouts, antique cars, fire trucks, a U.S.O. Troupe, and even a Rock-N-Roll band, the parade honored Woman of the Year Carol Conslato of Con Edison; Man of the Year James J. Wrynn; Walter E. Mugdan, recipient of The Douglas S. MacKay Community Service Award; and James Flaherty of Brown & Flaherty Mortgage Co., Inc., recipient of the Business Community Service Award. This year’s Grand Marshal was Major General John R. Hawkins III.
