Tiger Schulmann students shine at karate meet

Students from the Tiger Schulmann martial arts center in Rego Park represented their school proudly recently in the Challenge of Champions, the largest martial arts tournament of its kind in the United States, held at the Mennen Sports Arena in Morristown, New Jersey. The event hosted over 1,600 martial arts students of all ages, backgrounds and belt ranks to participate in a head-to-head, dual-discipline competition.
Winners from the Rego Park Tiger Schulmann school in the submission grappling competition included: Kristyn Morales, first place yellow belt, 51-60 pound division; Brandon Allen, second place advance 95-and-over pound division; Kevin Enrile, first place 116-130 pound division; Jeyson Segovia, first place men’s beginner 150-and-over pound division; Epi Tzouvelis, second place men’s intermediate 181-200 pound division; and Uriah Hall, first place men’s advance 180-and-over pound division.
Also featured was the free fighting competition. Winners from the Rego Park Tiger Schulmann contingent included Saul Lopez, second place boys & girls beginner 75-89 pound division; Brandon Allen, second place boys advance 90-104 pound division; Kevin Enrile third place advance 120-134 pound division; Al Agosto, first place men’s 185-204 pound division; and Maria Diaz, first place women’s 119-and-under pound division.
