There’s a frost on the looking glass and a chill in the air that has nothing to do with the season as the Halloween extravaganza “Malice in Underland” descends upon Fort Tilden in the Rockaways for a frighteningly free four-night fest from Saturday, October 28 through Tuesday, October 31.
It’s the Rockaway Artists Alliance’s (RAA) spooky take on the classic Wonderland tale of Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat and more as they transform their newly-renovated sTudio 7 gallery space into a maze of rabbit holes, chess boards and tilting tea parties.
“Malice in Underland” spirits adults and children alike into a mad world of sights and sounds as around each mysterious twist and turn guests interact with the shivering surprises this coven of mad artists has conjured up using paint, sculpture, visual effects, lighting, music and theatre.
Actors, costumed characters, guides and ghostly helpers will keep the scary fun shrieking along and bring the thrills and chills to life.
Carrying on an honored tradition, “Malice in Underland” follows the ghoulish foot steps of the RAA’s highly successful “Minotuar's Maze” event, which a spokesperson said drew upward of a thousand people last year.
Spanning all Halloween weekend, the event runs from 5 to 8 p.m.
Admission to “Malice in Underland” is free to all and part of other spirited and safe community festivities, such as specially spooky stage productions presented by the Rockaway Theatre Company, to be held on Fort Tilden’s grounds. Ample free parking is available.
The Rockaway Artists Alliance invites to all to let their imaginations run wild and have a frightfully close encounter with the arts.
