STREET FESTIVAL 2006
Only Three Days Away
Well, we’re counting down! The Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation staff and I are working very hard, for this Sunday, October 15, is our &#8220Wonderful Woodhaven Street Festival 2006.”
All the Jamaica Avenue Stores and restaurants are getting ready to go for our 26th Annual Street Festival. The sales signs and bargain tags are ready and special restaurant menus are being prepared. The Greater Woodhaven Development Corporation staff works very hard to sponsor and produce this festival.
As I have stated before, in order to gain the proper approvals and accomplish a successful safe festival for 26 years, it takes a lot of work! Remember, the GWDC sponsors this Street Festival on our own, no professional producer is involved, it’s all us! In this way, the GWDC board and staff who live and work here control this festival, chosen the &#8220Best Street Fair” in Queens for three consecutive years! So come out on Sunday, October 15 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Jamaica Avenue from 80th Street to Woodhaven Boulevard (where the two strings of lights mark the beginning and the end of our street fair area.) Bring the family for a safe, fun-filled family day!!
We will have pony rides, games, food, antique cars and a variety of vendors with unique products. Entertainment for the festival will be Savannah Sky, featuring Country Western Music with Line Dancing in the Streets, Doo Wop Music by Woodhaven’s own the Great &#8220Four Pops,” the famous Ja-Yi He performing Harmonic Classics, &#8220Heartbreak Station” with 50’s, 60’s songs and &#8220Dot Baker” (formerly &#8220Portable Whitman”) playing Elvis songs. Then playing foot-tapping dance music will be festival veterans &#8220The Nassau Project!”
Please have some good thoughts for sun for Sunday October 15.
May God bless our leaders, may God bless our Armed Forces and may God bless America.
