Each year, Terry Rodie – the district manager of Community Board 14 – cuts the ribbon at the annual Pakistani Independence Day festival held along Coney Island Avenue in August. This year, in recognition of her efforts on the community’s behalf, the Pakistani American Merchants Association named Rodie as their Woman of the Year. At the board’s December meeting, which was held at Public School 249, Caton Avenue and Marlborough Road, Asghar Choudhri, representing the merchant group, presented Rodie with a plaque in recognition of the honor. Besides being the president of the Pakistani American Federation of New York, Choudhri is a member of CB 14.
